Review of Titan A.E. (2000) by Titanium R — 14 Oct 2012
I remember that it was my roommate in college that got me to watch this. I wonder where Rayman is around these days? I heard he's now a medical doctor. Back to the movie, this animated film has an amazing storyline, great voice actors and it is truly entertaining.
I am trying to think that this is the only apocalyptic movie where the planet Earth is actually totally destroyed, leaving human beings to become "drifters" living off old earth spaceships that escaped Earth when it was decimated and totally blown off orbit.
But the best part of it is how a boy's future and role in saving humanity collided. The tension between choosing between being totally annihilated and fighting for survival became a fight for one's purpose in the universe.
And in case you want to know, voice actors include Matt Damon and Drew Barrymore. Storyline is by acclaimed comic book, television and movie writer Joss Whedon who has given the XMEN a new life, the AVENGERS a great entertaining movie and who put vampires into mainstream television a staple via Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
It's interesting to note how the Buffy movie totally bombed at the box office but made a run for the movie when it was translated into a television series. So given the chance, watch this movie and get a hold of its DVD as I sincerely doubt that this movie will ever make it to production again in special blue ray DVDs.
