Review of Tin Cup (1996) by Craig M — 01 Aug 2008
No. No. No! I don't know what to say about this disaster from a dozen years ago. You have the Legend of Bagger Vance; brilliant and dramatic; and Happy Gilmore; slapstick, ridiculous, and funny as all hell.
Now Tin Cup is caught in between, insulting both types of movie by being a bad attempt at each. Add to that, Costner's golf swing... unpretty and inconsistent, a killer combo. Don't they bring in pros to help out with that? The repeated shots into the water at the end were just absurd; all to prove a point? What point is that? That no matter if you saw this in the theater, rented it from a video store, or downloaded it and burned it to a 10 cent DVD.
... You wasted your time and money?
