Kevin Costner is good in sports film and he's at his most obstinate in this film. It's about a man who refuses to change because he refuses to compromise. The ending illustrates this rather perfectly and tears the traditional feel-good sports ending to shreds.
Cheech Marin is wonderful as his toned down self in this film.
