Review of TiMER (2009) by Stephanie J — 05 Jun 2011
The review that said that TiMER is pro-determinism seems to take the movie a little too seriously. It's a touching, and refreshingly independent romcom about a girl who wants to find her "soul mate" and, like the rest of America, is using "technology" to do it.
The way I read it, the question that the viewer is left with at the end of the movie is, "If there existed a technology that allowed people to skip the heartache of dating and go straight to the person for whom they are best suited, would it make them happier? Is the life experience worth the sadness?" The movie doesn't seem to offer an answer.
