Review of Timeline (2006) by Scott T — 14 Mar 2010
This was a movie I'm sure I would have loved back when I was a kid. It has a time travel story that seemed to be the in thing in the 80's and early 90's and it has the feel of that sort of era even though it was made in 2003.
It's an ideal Sunday afternoon movie with lots going on, lots of famous actors who have now gone on to bigger and arguably better things (yes Gerard Butler I mean you!) and a plot that it's best not to think too much about and just go with.
Lots of characters get knocked off at unexpected times and quite suddenly, the sets are amazing and so are the battle scenes. It's great to see Michael Sheen as a typical English bastard baddie (Hollywood love us Brits for that) and Anna Friel doing a French accent sometimes convincingly as well.
It flopped when it came out at the cinema but isn't at all bad, even though the book by the late Michael Crichton will undoubtedly be much better.
