A film that demands a ridiculous level of patience and a specific form of empathy, this is a beautiful companion piece to HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT in shining a spotlight on a corner of society that we always see but rarely acknowledge.
Moverman and Gere have crafted an immersive experience for the viewer, setting aside narrative contrivances in favor of character inhabitation, a move that will likely challenge and even alienate some audiences but reward others.
One of the best films of the year.
