Review of Time Bandits (1981) by Benedick L — 21 Jun 2008
This is obviously a cult film and so obviously a terry gilliam film. If you watched Monty Python you'll understand. If not, you may be a little confused. Gilliam did the drawins that came to life in the Python series and this is very much a shy of two hours film version of those drawings.
Me personally, I only marginally enjoyed this. The highlight was John Cleese's Robin Hood. I'm more of a tie all loose ends up narrative kind of guy and I just can't help wondering what happened to kevin at the end of the film.
The ending is abrupt and unresolved and the narrative as whole is well patchy. If you prefer that sort of thing, an experience slightly more surreal then most then Time Bandits is a good start into the many films that are out there.
Just not me.
