Different take on H. G. Wells and time travel: an actioner where McDowell’s Wells has to pursue Warner’s Jack the Ripper, who wreaks havoc on modern-day San Francisco. Fish-out-of-water gag not overplayed and the film proceeds quite well thanks to Meyer’s direction.
