Review of Timbuktu (2014) by Andrew K — 19 Jun 2015
6/20/15 Amazon Instant Video.
It can be a bit slow at times and has a sad and unsure ending but the stark beauty of the locale and the difficult living conditions of the citizens ruled by religious zealots is dramatically caught. Soccer with a phantom ball, harsh penalties for sins, marriage without consent, oppressive laws enforced by gunpoint are vividly captured. The film shows a world so far removed from ours but one good to be knowledgeable of.
