Review of Timbuktu (2014) by Joe H — 18 Oct 2015
Timbuktu lacks a compelling central narrative. What might have been a probing analysis of a culture tainted by religious extremism is instead a meandering series of loosely connected plot details that detract from rather than enforce the film's themes.
There are some powerful moments, but they become lost in the shuffle of plot minutiae.
