Review of Tideland (2005) by Jason A — 22 May 2008
Wow. This one's awfulness must be seen to be believed, but I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. I've always enjoyed movies that celebrate the weird and offbeat, but this one just wallows in grotesquerie for 2 long hours.
Dead junkies, stuffed corpses and flirtations with pedophilia. And yet it doesn't inspire powerful emotions (positive or negative) as much as the nagging question of "Why am I spending my time watching this?" Just a terrible misfire from the usually great Terry Gilliam.
