Review of Tideland (2005) by Rodney E — 20 Sep 2008
It always sucks when one of your favorites puts out a total turd. Maybe this is one of those that I have to see again but I'd rather not see again. With a concept that could have been a great movie, Tideland is muddled and stalls within the first couple minutes of the movie.
When I saw this in the theater, Gilliam had an introduction that stated that people will love it or hate it and I have to say that I did kind of hate it. This concept is familiar enough to Pan's Labyrinth that when I saw Pan's after this, the whole mind of a little girl fantasy left a bad taste in my mouth.
Probably the worst thing that Gilliam will ever make.
