Review of Tideland (2005) by Lauren V — 17 Apr 2012
A movie that divides opinions but not to be taken lightly. Gilliam's tale of an abandoned child left to her own imagination in a remote place. With a cast of 3 deranged loners and a collection of broken dolls she invents a stories in flights of fancy.
Jodelle is an astounding young actress as she navigates a fantasy world and holds conversations with her beheaded playthings. the colourful neighbors are just as deranged and you are never sure how much is real or imagined. The touching tale is equal parts bizarre and dramatic making excellent use of both characters and landscapes.
