Review of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) by George M — 11 Jun 2018
A film that is layered more than it gets credit for, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is more a study of male bonding than it is a story about a bank heist. From the start, Cimino puts our protagonists through a series of shared, but hair raising events that builds their friendship and empathy for one another's plight.
As the film develops, the heist becomes merely a means to an end, but that's okay. The real story is the friendship built and eventually (spoiler alert) lost between two men.
