Review of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) by Bob T — 27 Oct 2007
This is one of Eastwoods best earlier performances. It typifies films of its era - comfortable enough to take its time to develop characters slowly and end on a somewhat bleak note. Not the thrill a minute action film style we see today, but one that gets by on the chemistry and charm of its lead actors.
Eastwood took a chance on director Cimino here, and I think it is his best film (and yes - I've seen THE DEER HUNTER and YEAR OF THE DRAGON).
