Review of Thunderball (1965) by Chris R — 11 Oct 2012
'Thunderball' continues to be a entertaining Bond film to this day, however it's not one I frequently return to when I view Bond films. It doesn't have as many memorable thrills as previous films and the film also lags a lot through the middle.
These things don't make 'Thunderball' unwatchable in the least however, in fact the film is a great entry when you compare the whole series. The villains are very threatening and the most memorable part of this film and Connery is still at his best and in his prime.
I don't really know what makes me go back to it the least however, perhaps its the middle, the Domino character not being a particularly memorable Bond girl, or the underwater scenes are too frequent and become boring after a while.
'Thunderball' overall is not bad, but it's not the 007 film I would recommend to a first time viewer, but to fans it's classic Bond and one I would recommend to fans who haven't seen it yet.
It's just not my favorite.
