Review of Thunderball (1965) by Barney O — 22 May 2017
Connery's fourth outing as the iconic spy is a more laid back, slower paced style of movie. All the elements that were crystallised in Goldfinger are there but it floats on the notion that the bigger and more bloated it is, the better.
Still, there are memorable villains, action sequences and femme fatales. Claudine Auger is a lovely and curvaceous yet tragic Bond girl but the film's Archilles heel is its tedious underwater sequences which strip away a lot of the tension.
