Review of Thunderball (1965) by Adrian B — 07 Mar 2011
In this installment of the Double 007 trilogy, James Bond (Sean Connery) tries to track down some vicious terrorists who want to black mail the U.K. and the U.S.A. with atomic bombs, if they do not pay a sizeable ransom.
I found the first hour pretty good, very fast paced and full of entertainment. It slows down though after sixty minutes, unfortunately, and does pick up some pace towards the end. It offer some good thrills, such as the opening scene, the water fight climax, and some gorgeous femme fatales.
It is bit long though and is not as good as the previous bonds ("Dr. No," "From Russia With Love," and of course, "Goldfinger"). It would have been much better if their was less technological talk (explanations of water gadgets and such).
Despite some faults, it is a still a pretty good James Bond ride.
