Review of Thunderball (1965) by Sgt. C — 12 Mar 2014
(57%).
The opening quarter ranks as some of the series very best, with the implausible yet really fun jet-pack escape, and the Aston gadgets getting another bit of use, but as the movie goes along it gets bogged down more and more. The main baddie is just really a guy with an eye-patch that doesn't say or do anything memorable, and the underwater sequences are too frequent and over-long, that coupled with Connery looking like he's had enough doesn't help much. This is certainly one of the more average efforts that's still worthy of a look for some mild entertainment, but not much else.
