Review of Thunderball (1965) by Sinisteris T — 13 Jun 2015
Sean Connery's Bond certainly takes a beating in this one. The opening fight scene is pretty harsh. The confrontation at Shrublands with Count Lippe is rough.
Thunderball is entertaining enough, but it seems to follow a Goldfinger formula. While not entirely forgettable, the characters seem hollow; each a one-off of previous characters. Largo is cut from the same cloth as Auric Goldfinger, and in a sense not really that menacing. Volpe is quite good-looking, but there doesn't seem to be a there, there. The story is spread thin, and the characters a bit under-developed.
Is it me or is there something up with Sean Connery's hair and eyebrows?
