Review of Thumbelina (1994) by Carlotta 4 — 01 Aug 2010
It's a sweet little movie. To be fair, yes, it is mostly a children's movie. And yes there are a few scenes that are unnecessary and stupid (I have always disliked that stupid swallow and his one-track song list), but it's STILL a sweet little movie.
Maybe it's because I liked it when I was younger, but I still like it today. The animation is well done, the songs are fairly good, and the film remained about 96% true to the original story.
So this is one of my little secrets that I watch by myself when no-one is around. I'd tell people I like it, but I'd probably be a little embarrassed when doing so (just the same as "Swan Princess"). I think everyone's got a little part of themselves that just won't grow up.
(End note: my rating is based on the assumption that the swallow doesn't exist. If you include him, I'd probably have to give it a 60%.).
