Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Jason M — 04 Oct 2007
A very long and drawn out re-imagining of macbeth. lady macbeth is haunting in her lack of emotive energy and mifune brings a subtlety and tension to his role as macbeth. it is a beautiful film in that it focuses on the tensions surrounding macbeth rather than just his violent acts.
the death scene at the end is iconic and extremely moving. not one of kurosawa's best but certainly a great retelling of the Shakespearean tragdey.
