Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Matt M — 03 Jan 2014
Kurusawa is once again inspred by Shakespeare in his reconception of Macbeth as a Samurai film. It is a masterful reinterpretation, with the filmmaker really digging up the dark subjects of greed, power and madness, achieved by a great work of photography, powerhouse performances and a memorably breathtaking finale that chronicles the demise of lead character Washizu.
