Review of Throne of Blood (1957) by Zachary L — 13 Dec 2007
Quite possibly my favorite film by Akira Kurosawa (and that's saying a lot). This is an adaptation od William Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' in classic period samurai drama form. Toshiro Mifune's performance in this film is surpassed by no other.
The combination of Kurosawa's visual style and Mifune's incredible acting combine to create a climax like no other: the single most dramatic death sequence in any film ever! Even if you're not a fan of foreign films, subtitles or Japanese culture, do yourself a favor and watch this!
