Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Nitpicker . — 17 Feb 2018
A mother is out for justice when her daughter is raped and killed in small town nowhere Missouri. To make it worse, the police department assigned to the case are a bunch of incompetent buffoons.
Pros.
- Well made.
- Palpable tension and atmosphere.
- Sam Rockwell shines bright as the star of the movie.
- Frances McDormand is the mother we all want.
- Supporting characters are good.
Cons.
- Woody Harrleson plays Woody Harrleson in a uniform.
- Peter Dinklage could be cut and it wouldn't make a difference.
The movie transports you to this place and you quickly realize that you wouldn't want to live there or visit. What is a person to do when no one is willing or able to help them? When that person is desperate enough, they are able to bring out the worst and the best in themselves. Unfortunately, despite best our efforts, sometimes there's nothing we can do, and it's a hard lesson to learn.
