Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Rodrigo B — 19 Feb 2018
I have to admit that for the 1st time in about 25 years I am well behind the 8 ball when it comes to this years Academy Award nominees. Right now the frotn runners appear to be The Shape of Water, a movie where a deaf woman has sex with a fish, and Dunkirk which has about 10 lines of dialogue in the entire film.
But I was lucky enough to go and see Three Billboards tonight and I have to admit this was one of the best screenplays I have ever seen on the big screen. This movie has so many unforeseen twists and turns that it takes you on a roller coaster ride unlike anything Disney World has to offer.
Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell should be shoe ins for their respective categories of Best Actress and Supporting Actor and I have not doubt that Director/Writer Martin McDonagh should be taking home the little gold man for his story.
A highly recommended 2 hours.
