Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Don D — 13 Apr 2018
I really wanted to like this movie. But it was absolutely horrible. No character in the film acts like any real human would. The only character with anything close to feeling real kills himself halfway through as if he could not stand to be in this anymore.
Cussing in movies doesn't bother me but it is so prevalent in this film (to the point where the police chief cusses throughout a discussion with his two very young daughters in what is supposed to be a happy scene) it brought me out of the movie several times thinking that is not how people talk.
Also it seems as if the Irishman who wrote the story stereotyped southerners. Rednecks the last group it is politcally correct to make fun of. And what is with the enormous age differences in the chief and his wife and the ex and his girlfriend?
