Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Bigscreen454 — 04 Mar 2018

This was one of my favorites for best picture in the Oscar race. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this film but I’d say I like the main character Mildred’s determination to solve her daughter’s police case. It’s essentially about a woman very upset at the cops. A no-nonsense mother who really wants to get the job done and will stop at nothing. It contains probably one of the best movie scenes about burning down a police station, ever. At the end of the film, I think the director could have gone further and I would have liked a good 'ol hand to hand fight between the mom and her daughter’s killer. The film kinda leaves the audience hanging at the end for a real resolution.

This was an impactful film but thankfully not too impactful. Every filmmaker has an obligation not to make any film too real, otherwise, we would have every mother burning down every police station because of their failure in solving actual crimes and a focus on speeding tickets.
