Review of Threads (1985) by Owen S — 21 Feb 2009
Grim, unsentimental portrait of the months preceding and 13 years following a nuclear war. Unlike any other end of the world film, this one doesn't present adventure and action, but pathetic decay.
Made 25 years ago, the production isn't as flashy as something that would be made now and I think that is to its advantage - it brings it down to earth amidst some jarring scenes with - for lack of a better word - beautiful production design and camera work.
Highly recommended, but depressing as hell.
