Review of Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967) by Kimberly K — 17 Nov 2007
I loved this movie in high school ... and I still very much love it! It is full of music, Chaplinesque humor and suspense, and girls being girly. Set in the 1920s, Julie Andrews portrays a lady out to be the modern woman. And in order to be modern, she must marry her boss. She does everything she can to make this dream come true ... so when she meets an apparently flirtatious dabbler, Jimmy, she refuses to fall in love with him.
But, of course, she does fall in love with the dabbler -- and he with her -- which gives this film a satisfying ending and lots of laughter.
