Review of Thoroughbreds (2018) by Reece L — 03 Apr 2018
Boy is this movie good. This is the type of film that Hollywood should be making. The performances are fantastic. Anya Taylor-Joy and Olivia Cooke bring they're characters to life like no young actresses have ever done. The late Anton Yelchin also does a fantastic job. The acting in this movie was stellar. The visuals are also great. First time director Cory Finley started in theatre, so it's surprising to see how visually interesting he can make a scene. It's the type of movie you walk out of the movie theater and you keep thinking about it, and if you saw it with a friend you keep talking about it. This is the type of movie I want to see more of.
Overall, Thoroughbreds is all around fantastic. From the visuals to the acting to the well written characters, it's definitely worth-watching for any and all film fans. You can go to a superhero movie for good, dumb fun, or you can see a beautiful piece of art like this and know that you spent money for an experience you may never get again in your life.
