Review of Thor (2011) by Ross G — 14 May 2015
Thor is a necessary puzzle piece for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it offers unique challenges when it comes to adapting the character to the big screen. The extravagant and unique nature of the settings can create an emotional distance between the characters and the audience.
The main characters' interactions and development on Earth were well done and enjoyable, but the battle sequences and the home world can come across as silly at times. The plot line is paper thin and relies heavily on the charisma of the characters, which fortunately for the film is there is large quantities.
