Review of Thor (2011) by Richard B — 06 Nov 2017
Hammer Head.
I watched this again with my son. What fun. Thor was made by Kenneth Branagh, a bit surprisingly and had the Marvel mix of action, special effects and humour that the franchise has made its own.
The leads are great, especially Tom H and Chris H. Natalie P is adorable as usual, totally credible (not) as the genius scientist. Hopkins chews scenery as Odin, and the villains look just like Wight Walkers on Game of Thrones.
The plot is the same as the first cars movie, with Lightning as the model for Thor. He loses his big race because he is arrogant, goes to Radiator Springs and meets Sally and the gang, and returns to beat Chick Hicks and is rewarded by the King. I mentioned this to my son and saw it too.Special effects battles instead of races but, you get it.
It looks a bit cheap CGI wise, but has enough going for it to keep youngsters like me, engaged and happy.
You know, for kids!
