Review of Thor (2011) by Xander M — 20 Jan 2018
What is this. A good MCU movie again. No that is just Thor. Sure it is better than Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 but Thor makes fatal mistake after fatal mistake. MCU is giving us a god who for most of the movie is stripped of his powers and then pretty much kills himself and becomes a god again.
This movie is filmed like a Shakeperean movie and I feel that a superhero movie should not be filmed in that way. Thor himself is not the greatest character and frankly you just start rooting for Loki.
Loki is the best part of this movie. He is the best villain the MCU has offered so far. Odin, played by the great Anthony Hopkins is kind of bad, Heimdall is alright, Natalie Portman's character is just useless and her relationship with Thor is terrible and does not make sense, Darcy is terrifyingly bad and Selvig is fine in small doses.
The action is good and the special effects are alright. Hawkeye is shoehorned in so hard it is worst than Black Widow. Overall this movie is another meh MCU movie. Thumbs up but again barely.
