Review of This Sporting Life (1963) by Calvin D — 02 Jun 2009
A largely overlooked film whcih features one of the finest performances ever from Richard Harris. His character features tragic qualities that grips us emotionally and his performance matches them with emotional intensity.
His performance is reflected in such classics as DeNiro in Taxi Driver, Stallone in Rocky and even Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler. This film is an unsung masterpiece.
