A lovely, but sad movie. Robert Redford and Natalie Wood head a strong cast, and Mary Badham (Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird) steals every scene she's in. The script was adapted by Francis Ford Coppola from an early play by Tennessee Williams.
Apparently Williams hated the film, but it has a poetic quality amid the melodrama.
