Review of This Must Be the Place (2011) by Angela S — 04 May 2012
I loved it. Claude Lanzmann talks about the "Obscenity of Understanding" with his holocaust film: Shoah, and I think this film beautifully touches on that. We are not meant to understand the holocaust, nor the aftereffects on the next generation-like that of Cheyenne.
I think Penn was fabulous as the child-rocker. I have friends just like him. The music was phenomenal as well, of course it is a bit "go nowhere" at times, but I like those kind of films myself.
Francis McDormand should be your first clue that this is going to be along those lines.
