Review of This Must Be the Place (2011) by Rob J — 23 Sep 2012
A meandering road movie that lacked a coherent sense of direction. Penn's Cheyanne is a distant character, mainly because his particular brand of disaffected kookiness lacks consistency or adequate exposition (he has a 'sense of humour', he has experienced 'tragedy', his past is hinted at but seldom made *that* interesting - none of this gels well).
The DoP deserves credit though - there's some wonderful cinematography and an excellent (if not bizarre) scene featuring David Byrne that was worth watching the movie for.
