Review of This Island Earth (1955) by James S — 14 Jan 2009
Okay the description of this movie sounds a lot better then what it actually is. I mean I'm hoping that they just cut some of it out by mistake, because barely anything in the description happens at all. The only way I can suggest this movie is if you watch it on "MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE". It's that bad.
The only cool thing is the Mutant. It's an amazing costume and work of make up. Too bad it has so little screen time. The other was seeing The Professer (Russel Johnson) from Gilligan's island as, yep, another professer.
The story barely holds together and jumps from one thing to another, with little or no explanation at all. The two main characters barely do anything to move the story along at all and don't do much to be labled the hero and heroine. There are good old movies and then there are bad old movies. Then there is "This Island Earth", a movie that is so bad it can't even fit in the bad category.
"Where am I?".
"Georgia.".
"I kind of expected Neptune.".
