Review of This Island Earth (1955) by James T — 19 Aug 2008
I've tried FIVE times to get through this film, given the fact that the Alien [a man in a six foot suit] appears four fifths into the movie! A classic in terms of cheesy 50s B-Movie, but compared to War of the Worlds (1952) and Forbidden Planet (1956) it is pretty bad.
The effects though were advanced for the time period, especially with the EPIC painted backdrops.
