I think at face value this movie just appears like another bland date night movie, and yes if you're looking for something esoteric this is not your movie, but this movie wasn't about that, it was all about the warmth of character that surrounds it perfectly captured by a great ensemble of talent.
The movie is lively and captures that perfect musical perfection of comedy with a darker undertone which provides a perfect counterpoint and offers a rhythmic procession of comic relief and self-awareness.
The lines were economical and perfectly captured by the characters and compared to the book I thought this was a great adaptation. Way to go Tropper! If this movie didn't tug your heartstrings a little then honestly I don't know what to say go on and enjoy watching Iron Man movies or whatever.
