I don't know why filmmakers obsess over the perpetually miserable. I get that it can sometimes be funny but the human condition, at least for the white upper-class folks in this film, isn't all that dire.
Some of the performances are wonderful and it did make me chuckle a bit but the overall effect is "meh.
