Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Leighton T — 23 Aug 2011
A great comedy and the first true mockumentary produced. The brilliance is in the overall execution, not necessarily the scene to scene hilarity. What it adds up to is something terrific, balls out, excessive even, yet brilliant.
Not only is it a slick feat of filmmaking, but a great satire of the period and its music. One of Reiner's best and thankfully Guest continued to do his own equally brilliant films.
