Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Russell V — 19 Aug 2012
Probably one of the best and funniest satire films I have ever seen. It is a funny yet hard hitting mockumentary about a small time director who documents the ups and downs (mostly downs) of an overly pretentious rock band called Spinal Tap.
While the band's incompetence and bad luck is the main source of comedy, what makes it so funny is how it is fully grounded to reality thanks to the document style cinematography and the highly convincing acting.
While the band is full of themselves, each member have their own idiosyncrasies and their egos just makes the film more funnier than it already is.
