Review of This Is Spinal Tap (1984) by Harry W — 13 Feb 2013
This is Spinal Tap is a difficult thing to undewrstand if you don't know a history of good music, but watching it gives you so much nostalgia and so many laughs that it becomes imprinted in your memory as one of the most hlilarious and fresh comedy ideas of the past 50 years.
Rob Reiner's directional debut is full of clever writing, hilarity and an awesome soundtrack. This is Spinal Tap also features so many things that make it iconic, like the Amps with knobs that go up to 11, and the Tiny Stonehenge, and the term Rockumentary. But the unforgettable thing is the fact that This is Spinal Tap pays homage to so many classical musicians without ever doing injustice to anything in it's story, not to mention it's hilarious and perfectly acted with a great mockumentary format.
This is Spinal Tap is a classical comedy film that so many can enjoy, but it seems liek one day society won't reach it anymore with the development of the terrible music today.
