Review of This Is England (2007) by Joseph B — 16 Oct 2010
It is artistic & cinematic in it's appeal. It is about a subculture that rose after the downfall of 'mods'. the subculture mostly about 'cloths' and 'music'. Around 80s when the movie is set, the the subculture was being taken over by nationalists with their own agenda.
And thus turning skinhead movement into something racist. The movie beautifully depicts all this. it is about character becoming a skinhead to have a certain image different from others. mostly the change was in cloths, shoes and hairstyle.
there was no certain ideology. the film is aesthetic. it has some wonderful scores from the same subculture. This is not so much about racism as it is about skinhead movement.
