Shane Meadows at his absolute best. It's strange to watch this now because you constantly find yourself trying to slot the story back in with the TV Editions of '86 and '88 and to be honest I'm not 100% sure they marry together perfectly.
Setting that aside though Turgoose and Graham are both incredible on-screen in polar opposite roles. They feel like real people, not just characters and the film delivers warmth and squirming horror in equal doses.
A must see.
