Review of This Is England (2007) by Jon K — 26 Jan 2011
1983, England, skinheads what more do you need. I loved this film. The struggles of the main character Shawn struck a chord with me. His performance was right up there with Norton in American History X.
Feeling totaly lost and like an outsider my entire young life I really identified with Shawn and his band of Misfits. Everything is going great until one of the gangs older members gets out of prison with a new attitude toward black people.
Needless to say, all hell breaks loose and Shawn embraces his own dark impulses. Until a near death in a fight between two skinheads does Shawn begin to see the error of his ways.
