Review of This Is England (2007) by Jason C — 15 Jun 2011
This is England is set in the early 80's and centers around the difference in skinheads and how easily one can be persuaded to move from one belief to the other.
The cast is relatively unknown to Americans. They were young and pretty unknown to Brits also when the movie was made. Stephen Graham of Snatch fame (he was Tommy "Gun") would be the only really identifiable actor in the movie. That doesn't mean they didn't do a stupendous job. Every actor did their best and it showed.
The soundtrack was great. I doubt many people have ever heard of bands like Soft Cell, The Specials or UK Subs, but I love all these bands. There are others I was introduced to on the soundtrack.
This is England was released in '06, so it can be found on DVD. I found it on a movie channel, but however you can, you should watch it.
