Review of This Is England (2007) by Johann M — 03 Aug 2018
A drama story in which boy becomes friends with a gang of skinheads. Friends soon become like family, and relationships are pushed to the limit when a racist ex-convict returns, but Shaun, unfortunately, finds in him a father figure.
It is a complicated and tough movie, and although not without its controversies, it is interesting to see the emotional and honest development of a young character discovering racism, nationalist views and violence and then realizing nothing good ever comes from that.
